I give to you
While I was going up to our farm with my dad this afternoon, I had a sudden thought. (This can be very dangerous.) Fanfic writers often use canon characters in AU situations to tell a story that they might not otherwise be able to tell. So my mind then supplied an interesting idea (I hope it's interesting, anyway).
The Challenge: Use NCIS to tell a pre-existing story. This can be done in two ways.
1. You put the NCIS characters in a story like, say, Jules Verne's Journey to the Center of the Earth and tell the same basic story, but with the NCIS characters there as themselves (with obvious adaptations as needed). NOTE: You can't just have Ducky playing Hamlet in a local community theater. It has to be the actual story. Obviously, this would be AU.
2. You take a story like Romeo and Juliet and tell it through the lens of NCIS. In this example, it could be a murder-suicide that the team is investigating. Or maybe, there's a giant man-fly running around in DC and for some reason, NCIS is called on to stop him/it. (I'm just throwing out random thoughts, here.) No need for AU here, necessarily, but it could be to some degree.
Clear as mud? Good. Let's move on.
Characters: Any NCIS characters, but it must be those characters in one of the two situations.
Genre: Pretty much any genre as long as it's gen or het. (I don't really need you to do Romeo and Juliet, necessarily.)
Rating: FR15 or lower.
Length: 500 minimum and no maximum. Go nuts...within reason.
Crossovers: Only insofar as it fits with the challenge. I need to know what you're talking about and I don't watch a whole lot of TV.
No-nos: No sex, slash and minimal swearing, if you please.
You may enter this in other challenges with the permission of the other challenger and you can have multiple entries if you'd like.
